## Description

Spread along the Bonriki islet at the eastern end of South Tarawa, this airport is the principal international entry point to Kiribati and the Gilbert Islands. Fiji Airways links it to its Nadi base, Air Kiribati flies the domestic outer-island network, and Nauru Airlines adds occasional service toward Brisbane. There is no dedicated freight terminal here: air cargo moves only as belly load on scheduled passenger aircraft. Shippers handling pallet-sized consignments consolidate through the cargo gateway at Nadi (NAN) in Fiji or rely on sea freight via Suva. Sitting barely nine feet above the lagoon, Bonriki is one of the most climate-exposed international airports in the Pacific.
