## Description

Long dormant and once the subject of a 2016 referendum that rejected taxpayer-funded expansion, Bolzano (BZO, ICAO LIPB) was revived by private investors who relaunched scheduled flights in 2021. Today South Tyrol's own airline SkyAlps serves around two dozen, partly seasonal destinations from the airport with Dash 8 Q400 turboprops, among them Rome, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and London Gatwick. Wedged between mountainsides in the Adige valley, it remains one of the Alps' more demanding approaches. The airport plays no role in freight and has no dedicated cargo terminal. Air cargo for South Tyrol is consolidated via Verona (VRN, about 150 km) or Innsbruck (INN).
