## Description

Bogashevo has been rebuilt in stages: the runway reconstruction finished in June 2023, a new domestic terminal opened in August 2024 and lifted handling capacity by about half, and in April 2026 a further overhaul began covering 78,900 m² of apron, taxiway and airfield lighting. That contract went to Novosibirskavtodor for RUB 957.9 million, with completion scheduled for December 2026. Despite the investment, Tomsk Airport (IATA: TOF, ICAO: UNTT) is not a freight station: a dedicated cargo terminal and regular freighter operations are not confirmed, so goods move as belly cargo on domestic services to Moscow and Novosibirsk. Air freight for the Tomsk region, which lives on oil and petrochemicals, timber and its special economic zone, is normally routed through Novosibirsk Tolmachevo (OVB), roughly 270 road kilometres away on the R255, with Kemerovo (KEJ) as a secondary option. Since 2022 Western cargo airlines have not served Russia, so shipments run via rail, road and third-country hubs and every booking needs sanctions screening.
