## Description

Several hundred Su-9 interceptors once sat parked at Bobrovka; today the field about 39 km east of Samara, near Kinel, is used only by the regional DOSAAF flying club, which took it over in 2000. There is no military or commercial flying, no freight handling and no customs post, and its single runway 04/22 sees nothing heavier than sport aircraft. Air freight in the Samara region moves through Samara Kurumoch International (KUF), roughly an hour's drive away, with Kazan (KZN) and Ufa (UFA) as regional alternatives. Kinel itself matters to logistics for a different reason: it is one of the largest rail junctions on the Kuibyshev Railway and a node for eastbound rail freight. Since 2022 Western cargo airlines have not served Russia, so shipments run via rail, road and third-country hubs, and sanctions screening applies to every consignment.
