## Description

Flying at Boboc began in 1939, and nearly nine decades later the field near Buzău in south-eastern Romania still does the same job: training military aircrew. It houses the Romanian Air Force Application School "Aurel Vlaicu", with two training squadrons on IAK-52 and IAR 99 aircraft plus IAR 316 helicopters, and Bayraktar TB2 drones operated by the Romanian Land Forces. There is no civilian scheduled service, no cargo terminal and no customs post, and the base carries no IATA or ICAO code for commercial use. Air freight for Buzău county clears through Bucharest Otopeni (OTP), about 100 km away and reached by road via the E85/DN2 and the A2 motorway. Multimodal shippers can also weigh the Black Sea port of Constanța, roughly 180 km to the south-east, or Bacău Airport (BCM) to the north. For a freight forwarder, Boboc is a landmark rather than a shipping point.
