## Description

Cotton, mangoes and cashews define the trade of Bobo-Dioulasso, yet almost all of it leaves Burkina Faso by land rather than through the city's airport. Bobo-Dioulasso Airport (IATA: BOY, ICAO: DFOO), the country's second largest, lies a few kilometres south-west of the economic capital and offers a runway of about 3,300 metres, upgraded lighting and modernised navigation aids. Air Burkina provides the scheduled backbone, with domestic flights to Ouagadougou and regional services to Côte d'Ivoire. A freight shed exists and is reported by the operator's side to serve agricultural exports, notably during the mango campaign, but there is no confirmed regular freighter service by international cargo carriers. Larger air consignments are therefore routed via Ouagadougou-Thomas Sankara (OUA) or directly through Abidjan (ABJ). The Sitarail railway from Abidjan to Ouagadougou runs through the city and, alongside heavy road haulage on the same corridor, carries the bulk of the region's exports to the coast. Security conditions in parts of Burkina Faso remain difficult and directly affect routing, transit times and the insurability of overland moves.
