## Description

AIBD Assistance Services (AAS) handles aircraft on the ground, while the cargo zone is run by 2AS SA, a subsidiary of LAS SA, at this airport opened in 2017 near Diass, about 47 km east of Dakar. The freight terminal spans 12,800 m² and is rated for around 50,000 tonnes a year, replacing the cramped facilities of the former Léopold Sédar Senghor airport. Perishables drive the export side: chilled fish and seafood plus horticultural produce such as green beans and mangoes bound for Europe, supported by dedicated cold handling and extended weekend customs hours. Capacity comes from bellyhold on scheduled carriers and freight specialists including IAG Cargo, alongside Air France-KLM, Turkish and Brussels Airlines. The Dakar–Diass motorway feeds the site by road, while the TER regional express rail serves the Dakar–Diamniadio–AIBD corridor. After a 9.4 percent cargo decline in 2025, volume rebounded in the first half of 2026, up 17.9 percent to around 22,300 tonnes; construction of a new freight terminal rated at roughly 80,000 tonnes a year is planned to start in 2026, with operations targeted for 2028. Senegalese customs and bonded warehousing complete the offer. As the home base of Air Senegal, DSS links West Africa with Europe and North America.
