## Description

Berenice (EES, ICAO HEBR) is a tourism airport first and foremost, opened to civil traffic in January 2020 alongside the Banas naval base to give divers and beachgoers direct access to the southern Red Sea resorts. It sits about 150 kilometres south of Marsa Alam and works a 3,650-metre runway 45 metres wide, with a terminal of roughly 9,600 square metres sized for 600 passengers. Traffic is charter, holiday and business-aviation rather than freight: no cargo terminal, freighter operator or routine cargo customs presence is confirmed, and anything moving by air would do so as belly cargo. Goods bound for the region are routed via Cairo (CAI) or Hurghada (HRG) and trucked down the coastal road, with Marsa Alam (RMF) the nearest larger passenger gateway.
