## Description

Until February 2022, Berdyansk Airport (IATA: ERD, ICAO: UKDB) handled modest domestic services to Kyiv from a field about five kilometres southwest of this Sea of Azov port city. Russian occupation ended that: civil traffic stopped entirely, no air cargo is handled, and there is neither customs clearance nor a handling agent on site. The airfield has since been used as a Russian military base, including for attack helicopters, and has repeatedly been struck by Ukrainian forces, most recently at the end of June 2026. A return to freight operations is not in prospect. Ukrainian air freight currently moves by road feeder service to EU airports, most commonly Rzeszów (RZE) and Warsaw (WAW) in Poland. Anyone planning shipments toward the region should budget for trucking out of Poland rather than an airport of destination in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
