## Description

More than 45,000 tonnes of freight a year pass through Belfast International (IATA: BFS, ICAO: EGAA), worked around the clock at its Cargo Village — Royal Mail, DHL and UPS run overnight feeders to Great Britain from here, since the airport has no night-flight ban. Northern Ireland's dual customs status makes BFS a special case among UK airports: under the Windsor Framework, goods bound for the EU follow EU rules, and shipments from Great Britain arrive through dedicated declaration channels. With a record 6.7 million passengers in 2024, up 13 percent, and around 6.6 million in 2025, it is also the province's busiest airport, led by easyJet and Jet2. VINCI Airports, owner since 2018, is delivering a £100 million five-year investment plan. The site at Aldergrove lies about 30 kilometres northwest of Belfast, reached via the M2 motorway. Aviation here dates to 1917, when Aldergrove opened as a military airfield — the Royal Air Force remains a neighbour on the site.
