## Description

China's aviation history began here: Nanyuan Airfield south of Beijing opened in 1910 as the country's first airport and later served as the base of China United Airlines. Civil operations ended in September 2019, the day Beijing Daxing (PKX) opened, and the site reverted to purely military use. The IATA code NAY survives only in historical data. Freight for southern Beijing is handled at Daxing PKX, with Capital PEK as the second option.
