## Description

A 2,100-by-45-metre runway, a 2,500-square-metre passenger terminal and both visual and instrument approaches by day and night define Bauru-Arealva "Moussa Nakhal Tobias" State Airport (JTC/SBAE) in inland São Paulo state. The airport opened on 23 October 2006, replacing the older field inside the city of Bauru, and is run under the Rede Voa concession, with Azul operating scheduled services. Air cargo currently travels as belly freight on those passenger flights; no dedicated cargo terminal and no regular freighter operations are confirmed, even though developing the site into a cargo airport has long been discussed. Bauru is a road and rail junction of the interior, so most export shipments are trucked onward rather than flown from here. Viracopos/Campinas (VCP, around 230 kilometres away) is Brazil's largest cargo airport and the usual gateway, with São Paulo-Guarulhos (GRU, around 330 kilometres) as the second option.
