## Description

Batken province sits in Kyrgyzstan's south-west, wedged between Tajik and Uzbek enclaves, and its airport (UCFB) is the region's only air link. Opened in 1958 with a gravel strip for An-2 and Il-14 aircraft, it gained an 1,800 m asphalt runway in 1984 and international status by government resolution No. 236 of 22 April 2014, before returning to service after a full reconstruction. The schedule is essentially one route: Bishkek–Batken, four times weekly in summer and three times weekly in autumn and winter, flown with a BAe 146-200. There is no cargo terminal and no air-freight customs facility here; traffic is passenger-driven. Consignments for the province move by road from Osh (OSS), about 184 km east, while international air freight clears through Manas at Bishkek (FRU). For forwarders, Batken is a feeder point — and the enclave-riddled road network, not the airport, is the real planning problem.
