## Description

BJY and LYBT both point to a military field, not a freight gateway: Batajnica, officially the Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović Air Base, is the Serbian Air Force's principal installation, some 20 km north-west of central Belgrade between Batajnica and Nova Pazova. It is the only airfield in Serbia with two asphalt runways, and it also hosts the air force training centre and the «Moma Stanojlović» aeronautical overhaul plant. No scheduled passenger or commercial cargo operations take place here; transport flying is done by military squadrons. Shippers therefore work through Belgrade Nikola Tesla (BEG), roughly 15 km to the south, which holds the customs clearance and ground-handling infrastructure for air cargo. Batajnica's position beside the E75 motorway and its rail connection have fuelled recurring proposals to open the base to civil traffic, none of which has been implemented. For consignments moving on to Novi Sad and the Vojvodina, road feeder service from BEG along the E75 remains the practical answer, with Niš Constantine the Great (INI) as the southern alternative.
