## Description

The airstrip at Basanth Nagar (RMD/VORG) near Ramagundam in the Indian state of Telangana was served by the now-defunct carrier Vayudoot in the 1980s and has since seen only occasional VIP or emergency landings, with no scheduled or cargo operations. Plans to develop it into a regional airport are stalled: a feasibility study by the Airports Authority of India cited hills and obstacles in the approach path, though in October 2025 the Telangana government sanctioned around ₹40.5 lakh for a pre-feasibility study. Air freight for the coal and cement belt around Ramagundam therefore moves through Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International (HYD), some 250 road kilometres to the south-west, backed by rail and trucking.
