## Description

A scheduled airport without a paved runway: Barra Airport (BRR/EGPR) in the Outer Hebrides is the only airport in the world where scheduled flights land on a tidal beach, and it carries no meaningful air freight. Its three runways on the Traigh Mhòr sands are marked only by wooden poles and are usable solely at low tide. Loganair is the sole operator, flying a De Havilland Canada Twin Otter to Glasgow (GLA); the aircraft's two rearmost seats fold down so light freight and mail can be loaded into the cabin. There is no cargo terminal, no freighter handling and no customs post — the only limit that matters is what fits in the cabin. The island's goods supply runs almost entirely on the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry from Castlebay to Oban and onward by truck. For genuine air cargo into the region, Glasgow (GLA) and Stornoway (SYY) on Lewis are the airports that count.
