## Description

Barges beat aircraft here: freight around Magangué moves on the Magdalena, Colombia's main inland waterway, and by truck, while Baracoa Airport (MGN, ICAO SKMG) handles only light aircraft and helicopters. Scheduled commercial passenger service ended back in 1969, and a later plan to bring SATENA flights to Bogotá was redirected to Corozal instead. The field, about 14 km from the centre of Magangué in Bolívar department, is nonetheless the principal airport of the La Mojana region. It offers no cargo handling, no customs post and no freight infrastructure. Shippers needing air capacity use Corozal Las Brujas (CZU), roughly 60 km west, or Cartagena Rafael Núñez (CTG), some 155 km northwest. International air exports are consolidated at Bogotá El Dorado (BOG), by far Colombia's largest cargo airport.
