## Description

CNY 1.6 billion is the price tag on turning Baoji's military airfield at Fengxiang into a civil 4C regional airport, a project cleared after China's NDRC approved its feasibility study. Plans call for a 3,200 m runway and a terminal sized for 600,000 passengers and 3,000 tonnes of cargo a year, rising towards 1.2 million passengers by 2030. No opening date has been confirmed, so Baoji currently has neither scheduled nor freighter flights. The city is China's titanium capital, where the Baoti group and its supplier cluster produce much of the country's output — tonnage that leaves by rail on the Longhai trunk line and by road. Air freight for the region is handled at Xi'an Xianyang (XIY), roughly 170 km east, which offers freighter services and customs clearance. Shipments heading northwest can alternatively use Lanzhou Zhongchuan (LHW), at the cost of a much longer trucking leg.
