## Description

From 1945 until 2012 the site served the US Army as Bamberg Army Airfield (ETEJ); since the garrison closed, Stadtwerke Bamberg has run it as a special-use airfield, with flight operations organised by the Aero-Club Bamberg. EDQA lies about 3 km northeast of Bamberg in Upper Franconia and is approved for sport, gliding and business aircraft up to 10 t maximum take-off weight under both VFR and IFR, with refuelling on site and a night curfew from 22:00 to 06:00. The airfield has no cargo terminal, no air-freight handling agent and no customs office, and it carries no IATA code. Consignments from the Bamberg area move by road to Nuremberg (NUE), roughly 60 km south via the A73 motorway, which offers cargo handling and integrator connections. Intercontinental air freight normally travels by road feeder service to Frankfurt (FRA, about 230 km), while Leipzig/Halle (LEJ, a similar distance) is the reference point for pure freighter capacity.
