## Description

Mazafati dates, prized above almost every other Iranian harvest, shape the economy around Bam far more than its airport does. BXR/OIKM sits east of the city in Kerman province and was rebuilt after the 2003 earthquake that levelled the town and its adobe citadel, Arg-e Bam. Services today are essentially domestic, with Qeshm Air operating to Tehran–Mehrabad from a single passenger terminal; no dedicated cargo terminal or scheduled freighter operation is confirmed. Dates, citrus and other produce leave by truck via Kerman (KER, some 190 km) to Tehran's Imam Khomeini International (IKA), the country's principal air-export gateway. Bam also sits on the Kerman–Zahedan transit corridor toward the Pakistani border, which makes it a road node first and foremost. For ocean-suitable consignments, the port of Bandar Abbas lies roughly 500 km to the southwest.
