## Description

Founded in 1930 as a Soviet pilot school, Balashov is today a military training air base of the Russian Aerospace Forces, about 9 km east of Balashov in Saratov Oblast — not a civilian or cargo field. It hosts the 606th Training Aviation Regiment of the 785th Aviation Training Center, schooling transport and long-range crews on the Antonov An-26. There is no commercial cargo handling, customs or ground service for freight. For air cargo in the region, forwarders use Saratov Gagarin Airport (GSV, around 180 km east), with intercontinental capacity concentrated at the Moscow hubs.
