## Description

Despite its long runways and extensive aprons, Joint Base Balad handles no commercial freight at all. The facility near Al Bakr, some 64 km north of Baghdad, is one of Iraq's largest military air bases and serves the Iraqi Air Force rather than scheduled carriers.
