## Description

PNG Air's light turboprops are the practical lifeline of Baimuru (VMU / ICAO AYBA), linking this corner of Papua New Guinea's Gulf Province to Kerema, the provincial capital, and to Kikori. The single runway 04/22 measures about 900 metres and sits roughly three metres above sea level in the Purari delta, an area with virtually no usable road access. There is no freight terminal, no cold chain and no customs post: goods travel as belly load on scheduled or chartered flights. Consignments of any size, and anything moving in or out of the country, are consolidated and cleared at Port Moresby Jacksons (POM), reached from Baimuru by air or by river and coastal shipping rather than by road. For forwarders, VMU is a last-mile delivery point rather than a handling station. Planning should allow for the weight and volume limits of small aircraft and for wet-season weather disruption.
