## Description

August Euler Airfield in Griesheim near Darmstadt is one of Germany's oldest airfields and today serves research, gliding and experimental flying rather than commercial aviation. It has no cargo handling, no customs office and no scheduled flights, so it plays no part in air freight. Instead the region's air cargo runs through Frankfurt (FRA) some 30 km to the north-west, one of Europe's largest freight airports, with freighter operations, a perishable centre and pharma infrastructure.
