## Description

Atauro (AUT/WPAT) is the short airstrip on the island of the same name off Timor-Leste's north coast, near Vila, usable mainly by light aircraft and occasional charters. There is no cargo terminal, no handling agent and no regular freight service; the island is supplied largely by ferry from Dili, so the airfield's freight relevance is limited. Air cargo for Timor-Leste is handled at Dili Presidente Nicolau Lobato International (DIL), about 30 kilometres to the south, which is also where customs clearance takes place.
