## Description

Opened on 28 August 2011 after a 303-million-yuan investment, Arxan Yi'ershi Airport (YIE/ZBES) in Inner Mongolia remains a tourism field: it handled just 31.3 tonnes of cargo in 2021. It sits 16.5 km north of Arxan city centre near the town of Yi'ershi in the Hinggan League, with a single 2,400 by 45 metre runway designed for 290,000 passengers a year. Beijing Capital Airlines links it to Beijing–Daxing and China Express Airlines flies to Hohhot and Ulanhot, on a strongly seasonal pattern — hot springs and skiing in winter, hiking in the Arxan UNESCO Global Geopark in summer. There is no cargo terminal, no cold storage and no dangerous-goods capability; whatever freight moves does so as minimal belly load. Regional consignments therefore travel by road through the Greater Khingan range, usually to Ulanhot (HLH) or on to Changchun Longjia (CGQ), the nearest airport with meaningful cargo handling. Plan air freight for this region on CGQ or Hohhot (HET) and budget for the trucking leg rather than quoting YIE.
