## Description

Manufactured goods from Venezuela's industrial belt — machinery, chemicals, vehicle parts and consumer products from the Valencia area — move through Arturo Michelena International Airport (VLN, ICAO SVVA), which handles more than 60 percent of the country's air cargo. Some twenty cargo warehouses serve transhipment and storage, and the terminal has its own customs and immigration processing. The airport is the home base of Solar Cargo, Venezuela's dedicated freight carrier, flying Boeing 727-200F and DC-10-30F aircraft to destinations across the Americas and the Caribbean; Avior Airlines keeps a secondary base here and Turpial Airlines is based on the field. Its runway of about 3,000 metres suits medium-haul jets. Regional motorways put the seaport of Puerto Cabello within roughly an hour, which supports combined sea-air shipments for Carabobo's factories. After the earthquake of 24 June 2026, Maiquetía near Caracas closed to commercial flights, and Venezuelan reports say Valencia has since carried much of the national traffic. Operations are run by the Carabobo state airport institute on behalf of state company BAER.
