## Description

Arctic Bay Airport (IATA: YAB, ICAO: CYAB) on Baffin Island, Nunavut, is the only year-round link for a community with no road connection, working from a gravel runway of about 1,199 metres some five kilometres south-east of the hamlet. Canadian North serves the airport with flights to Iqaluit and Resolute Bay, and freight travels as belly load on those scheduled services — there is no dedicated cargo terminal and no customs facility. Food, medicine and urgent spare parts therefore arrive by air as a matter of course, while bulk goods, fuel and building materials come by sealift during the short summer window.
