## Description

Three airlines define the freight options at Araçatuba Dario Guarita Airport (ARU/SBAU) in north-western São Paulo state: Azul flies to Campinas/Viracopos (VCP), VOEPASS to São Paulo/Congonhas (CGH) and Gol to São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU), all services whose only cargo capacity is belly space. The asphalt runway measures 2,120 by 35 metres and can accept Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft, but no dedicated cargo terminal, bonded warehouse or on-site customs clearance is confirmed at ARU. The airport has been run since the 2021 auction by concessionaire ASP Aeroportos Paulistas, which holds the north-west block of 22 regional São Paulo airports and is committed to around R$181.2 million of investment over the contract, with the first major terminal works scheduled from 2027. The surrounding economy is built on cattle, meat processing, sugarcane and ethanol, so most outbound volume moves by road and rail to seaports rather than by air. Shippers needing air freight consolidate at Viracopos, Brazil's largest air cargo airport, roughly 450 road kilometres away, or at Guarulhos some 520 km away. In practice ARU serves urgent small consignments and spare parts in the first mile, not palletised or temperature-controlled cargo.
