## Description

Opened on 4 August 2012, Aracati Dragão do Mar Regional Airport (ARX/SBAC) was built for coastal tourism in the Brazilian state of Ceará, and air cargo has never been part of its business — official statistics record zero tonnes of freight for 2024. There is no cargo terminal and no dedicated handling on site. The runway can take mid-size aircraft up to the Boeing 737-700, but scheduled service is limited to Azul's three weekly ATR 72-600 rotations from Recife, with a Belo Horizonte–Confins link due to start on 1 October 2026. Shipments bound for Aracati or the Canoa Quebrada resort area are therefore routed through Fortaleza–Pinto Martins (FOR), roughly 130 km to the north-west and the state's actual air freight gateway. Final delivery runs by truck along the CE-040, and customs clearance for imports likewise takes place in Fortaleza rather than at ARX.
