## Description

Named for the surrounding Outagamie County and long a modest regional field, Appleton International (ATW/KATW) has grown into the fastest-rising airport in Wisconsin. Its 1,700-acre campus houses a FedEx air cargo distribution center with a dedicated apron, handling around 13 million pounds of freight in 2022 — much of it paper, machinery and electronics from the Fox Valley's manufacturing base. The passenger side topped one million travellers for the first time in 2024 and repeated the feat in 2025, while a $66 million, 47,000-square-foot terminal expansion began phasing in from April 2025 to lift both passenger and cargo capacity. Delta, American and United fly the scheduled routes. US Highways 41 and 10 connect the field toward Green Bay and Milwaukee. Just down the road, Oshkosh hosts EAA AirVenture each summer, the largest fly-in gathering on earth. Shipments beyond ATW's scope route through Milwaukee Mitchell (MKE).
