## Description

Until 2023, Andøya Airport (IATA: ANX, ICAO: ENAN) shared its runway with Norway's P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol fleet; since those aircraft moved to Evenes, state operator Avinor has run the civilian side of the Vesterålen airfield on its own. Widerøe flies public-service-obligation routes to Bodø, Tromsø and Harstad/Narvik, and Norwegian adds a seasonal Oslo service between June and August. There is no freight operation, no cargo terminal and no dedicated air-cargo customs facility at Andenes; shipments travel at most as belly load on the regional turboprops. The nearest full air cargo option is Harstad/Narvik Evenes (EVE), about 150 km south along the E10, while coastal shipping usually stays cheaper for volume and heavy-lift consignments to the Vesterålen. Next to the runway sits Andøya Spaceport, opened in November 2023 as Europe's first launch site for satellites into polar orbit.
