## Description

Infraero, Brazil's federal airport operator, took over the cargo airport at Anápolis in July 2024 — a development that matters far more to freight than the military field sharing the city's name. Anápolis Air Base (ICAO: SBAN), in the state of Goiás, is an ALA 2 Brazilian Air Force installation flying F-39 Gripen fighters and, since 2018, KC-390 Millennium transports; it handles no commercial cargo and has no scheduled service. The separate Anápolis cargo airport sits in the DAIA agro-industrial district and was federalised by ministerial order (Portaria 344) in July 2024, with a runway currently measuring 1,245 by 45 metres and a 3,000-metre cargo runway planned. Anápolis is the pharmaceutical centre of central Brazil and pairs the Porto Seco Centro-Oeste inland customs terminal with proximity to the North–South railway, giving the city genuinely multimodal potential once air capacity follows. Until then, import and export shipments move by truck along the BR-153 to the civil airports of Brasília (BSB, about 160 km) and Goiânia (GYN, about 55 km).
