## Description

Four and a half years after the flight restrictions took effect on 24 February 2022, Anapa Vityazevo Airport (IATA: AAQ, ICAO: URKA) still plays no role in air cargo: it remains one of eight southern and central Russian airports closed to civil traffic. Russia's transport ministry stated in 2026 that it could reopen the field quickly once security services agree, but no date has been confirmed and a development master plan is only due by the end of 2026. Even before the closure, AAQ was a seasonal leisure gateway for the Black Sea resorts around Anapa rather than a freight station, and no meaningful tonnage was ever handled here. Forwarders serving Krasnodar Krai therefore plan via Sochi (AER, about 280 km), which stayed open throughout, or Krasnodar (KRR, about 160 km), which resumed operations in 2025. Both airports connect to Anapa by coastal road, with drive times of roughly three to five hours depending on checkpoints.
