## Description

Fresh fish, cut flowers and farm produce fill most of the hold space leaving Amami Airport (IATA: ASJ, ICAO: RJKA) on Amami Oshima, an island roughly midway between Kyushu and Okinawa. Four carriers serve the field: JAL through its regional arm Japan Air Commuter, ANA, Skymark and Peach. JAL links Tokyo Haneda, Osaka Itami, Fukuoka and Kagoshima plus the inter-island network to Kikai, Tokunoshima, Okinoerabu and Yoron, while Peach flies Osaka Kansai year-round and Tokyo Narita seasonally from April to October. There is no dedicated freight terminal — everything moves as belly cargo, and heavy or bulky consignments still arrive by ferry from Kagoshima, a crossing of about eleven hours.
