## Description

OGMA – Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal, 65% owned by Embraer and 35% by the Portuguese state, runs the airfield at Alverca (LPAR) near Vila Franca de Xira, roughly 15 km north-east of Lisbon Airport. The site is Portugal's oldest airport — it served the capital before Lisbon opened in 1940 — and today combines Portuguese Air Force use with civil maintenance, repair and overhaul work for customers from some 70 countries on its single runway 04/22. It is not a commercial freight station: no public cargo terminal, no air cargo handling agent and no routine customs clearance for shipments are confirmed at Alverca. Regional air freight moves through Lisbon Humberto Delgado (LIS / LPPT), Portugal's main air cargo gateway, or through Porto (OPO), with the Port of Lisbon on the Tagus covering sea freight. Where Alverca does show up in supply chains is aviation logistics: engines, rotables and AOG parts for the MRO shops typically arrive as air freight at Lisbon and cover the last kilometres by truck. Deliveries to the site should be addressed to the OGMA facility, with customs cleared in Lisbon.
