## Description

Commissioned in December 2022 as one of three new regional airports in Tibet, Ali Pulan Airport ended decades of multi-day road journeys to reach Burang. At roughly 4,250 m above sea level it ranks among the highest civil airports in the world. Traffic consists of passenger flights connecting pilgrims bound for Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar with Lhasa; there is no freight terminal. Regional trade moves through the Purang land port towards Nepal and by truck along the G219 highway. Air cargo for western Tibet is handled at Lhasa Gonggar (LXA).
