## Description

Aleppo International was the first major Syrian civil airport to resume scheduled flights after the change of power, reopening in March 2026 with services to Istanbul and Jeddah via the newly reopened northern corridor into Türkiye. For Syria's second city and its industrial hinterland, the airport is the re-emerging air-freight gateway, carried mainly by belly cargo on passenger flights and by humanitarian lift for staff rotations, medical goods and high-value consignments. Operations stay volatile, however: after the June 2026 collapse of the ceasefire, slots and routes are uncertain. Customs is handled by the Syrian customs administration, while proximity to the Turkish border makes combined air–road movements via Gaziantep and Mersin a real alternative. For predictable freight volume in 2026, forwarders still calculate via Damascus (DAM) or overland, treating Aleppo as available again but not yet dependable.
