## Description

About 47,700 passengers used Alderney Airport (ACI/EGJA) in 2024, up from a pandemic low of 28,000 in 2020 — and none of that traffic involves cargo handling. The field on the third-largest Channel Island, close to Saint Anne, works with an 877 m asphalt runway (08/26) plus two short grass strips. Aurigny is the sole commercial airline and also provides ground handling; since November 2025 the service has been flown by a De Havilland Twin Otter wet-leased from Skybus, after the airline retired its long-serving Dornier 228 in December 2025. Scheduled links run to Guernsey and Southampton only. A plan to extend the main runway to roughly 1,050 m for ATR 72 aircraft has stalled on construction costs, and about £460,000 of patching and resurfacing was completed instead in October 2025. Goods reach the island by sea or as belly freight via Guernsey (GCI), which remains the nearest airport for anything resembling scheduled air cargo.
