## Description

FedEx Express and UPS Airlines both base Boeing 767 freighters at the Albuquerque International Sunport (IATA: ABQ, ICAO: KABQ), New Mexico's largest airport and its clear air-cargo anchor. In fiscal 2025 the field handled roughly 83 million pounds of freight (about 38,000 tonnes), with Amazon Air – flown by Sun Country – adding to the integrators while Empire Airlines and Ameriflight feed the smaller airfields across the state. A dedicated cargo terminal of some 50,000 square feet handles the throughput, backed by on-site CBP customs and Known Shipper screening, and the airport is planning a further expansion of its cargo facilities. The Sunport is the grantee of Foreign-Trade Zone 110, whose service area now covers much of central New Mexico. The airport sits at the "Big I", the interchange of Interstates 25 and 40, putting it at the crossroads of the Southwest's main north–south and east–west corridors, with the BNSF Transcon mainline running just south through Belen. Perched at 5,355 feet, its Pueblo Revival terminal welcomes millions of passengers a year – and each October the skies above fill with the hundreds of balloons of the International Balloon Fiesta.
