## Description

Commercial flights returned to Al Wajh (EJH/OEWJ) on 24 May 2026, after a two-year rebuild by Red Sea Global lifted terminal capacity from 100,000 to 500,000 passengers a year. Saudia currently operates the only scheduled services — five weekly flights from Riyadh and Jeddah — so every kilogram of air freight moving through the airport travels as belly cargo in a narrow-body hold. No dedicated cargo terminal, freighter apron or resident air cargo handling agent has been confirmed here. The upgraded infrastructure accepts Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft, which caps shipment dimensions well below main-deck freighter standards. Shippers serving Saudi Arabia's Tabuk province and the Red Sea coast normally clear customs at Jeddah King Abdulaziz (JED, roughly 700 km by road) or use Tabuk (TUU, roughly 350 km) and truck the final leg. International routes are planned but not yet approved, so import and export clearance should still be budgeted at the larger gateways.
