## Description

Roughly 74 km west of Baghdad, near Habbaniyah in Anbar Province, Al Taqaddum Air Base (TQD/ORAT) has two runways of about 3,700 m and 3,660 m — dimensions that would suit freighters, on an airfield that carries none. It is an Iraqi Armed Forces installation; from 2015 it also hosted US and coalition personnel training and advising Iraqi units. There are no scheduled passenger or cargo services and no commercial customs facility, and no conversion to civil use has been confirmed. Air freight for Anbar, Fallujah and Ramadi is handled at Baghdad International (BGW), about 85 km east, and trucked west along the main highway corridor. For the north of the country, Erbil (EBL) and Sulaymaniyah (ISU) are the usual alternatives. Iraqi import requirements, including pre-shipment inspection for some commodity groups, should be settled with the customs broker before the shipment departs.
