## Description

Pegasus Cargo Company is the single name that matters at Al Najaf International Airport (NJF/ORNI): it runs the cargo terminal, the handling, the transport and the storage, and it is the only operator authorised by the airport authority to carry out customs clearance. The southern Iraqi airport handled 24,174.7 tonnes of cargo in 2022, a volume driven largely by pilgrimage traffic to the Imam Ali shrine in Najaf. Facilities comprise roughly 1,600 m² of general storage, temperature-controlled capacity for about 260 tonnes, and five aircraft stands on the cargo ramp, so NJF can take freighters as well as belly cargo. Capacity is nonetheless well below Baghdad International (BGW), about 170 road kilometres north, which remains the first alternative for larger consignments and wider scheduled options; Basra (BSR) serves the south and connects to the Umm Qasr seaport. Hinterland movement is road-only, along the Najaf–Karbala–Baghdad corridor, with no working rail freight link to the airport. Shippers planning pharma or perishables through Najaf should book the limited cold storage early and factor in that a single handling agent controls the whole chain.
