## Description

The United Arab Emirates Air Force runs Al Minhad Air Base (NHD/OMDM), a military field about 24 km south of Dubai that has functioned for years as a logistics and transport node for coalition forces in the region. UAEAF medium-lift aircraft such as the Lockheed C-130H-30 Hercules operate from here on troop, equipment and humanitarian support missions. The base long hosted the headquarters of Australia's Joint Task Force 633, and RAAF C-130J and C-17A Globemaster aircraft used in relief operations were deployed to Al Minhad. None of this is open to commercial shippers: there is no public cargo terminal, no civilian ground handling agent and no customs clearance for trade goods. Air freight in and out of Dubai moves instead through Al Maktoum International (DWC), roughly 20 km west and purpose-built for freighter operations, or through Dubai International (DXB) with Emirates SkyCargo belly capacity. Trucking between those gateways and the wider Northern Emirates hinterland runs on the E611 and E311 and typically takes 20 to 40 minutes.
