## Description

Fifteen thousand tonnes of cargo and mail per year: that is the design capacity of the Terminal 2 complex opened at Aksu Hongqipo Airport in November 2020, covering 20,437 square metres. The airport serves Aksu prefecture on the northern rim of the Tarim Basin, one of Xinjiang's leading cotton and fruit regions. China Southern and other carriers link AKU with Ürümqi, Xi'an and further Chinese cities, with freight moving almost entirely as belly cargo. The famous candy-sweet 'tangxin' Aksu apples generate a pronounced autumn peak in time-sensitive shipments. For international freight and main-deck capacity, forwarders route via Ürümqi Tianshan (URC), the region's cross-border cargo hub.
