## Description

Around 94,000 aircraft movements and more than seven million passengers pass through Afonso Pena International Airport (CWB) each year, alongside one of Brazil's busiest air cargo operations. The airport serves Curitiba, the industrial capital of Paraná state, from São José dos Pinhais on the city's edge. Its 12,000 m² freight terminal handles manufactured goods, automotive components and electronics from the prosperous south, supplemented by belly cargo on LATAM, Gol and Azul services. A 2008 runway extension allowed freighters to depart at heavier weights, after which the cargo facility was enlarged. Road links via the BR-376 and BR-277 highways connect CWB directly to the deep-sea port of Paranaguá, encouraging combined air-and-sea movements for exporters.
