## Description

Drone maker Tekever, Sevenair Academy — one of Europe's largest commercial flight schools — and maintenance firm Aeromec anchor the aeronautical cluster built up at Aeródromo Municipal de Ponte de Sor (ICAO: LPSO) in Portugal's Alentejo. Some 17 companies and around 600 staff now work there across R&D, production, maintenance and training, on a site about five kilometres south-west of the town. Its single 1,800 m ILS-equipped runway (03/21) and ANAC Class II, Code 3C certification allow heavier aircraft than an ordinary general-aviation field: Aeromec opened an 8,000 m² hangar in November 2024 that holds three A320-class aircraft at once. From 2026 the LUS-222 — the first aircraft developed in Portugal, with 19 seats, a 2,000 kg payload and 2,000 km range — is due to be series-built here. The airport itself operates no commercial cargo service; time-critical air freight and customs clearance for the region run through Lisbon (LIS), roughly 150 km to the south-west, or Porto (OPO) for northern Portugal.
