1,460 metres of asphalt, 30 metres wide, sum up the capability of Castelo Branco Aerodrome (ICAO LPCB) in Portugal's inland Beira Baixa region: enough for light aircraft, flight training and summer firefighting operations, but well short of what freighter traffic requires. A recent apron extension costing close to one million euros adds parking capacity for general aviation and firefighting aircraft rather than for freight operations.
