## Description

For decades Adisutjipto was Yogyakarta's front door; that role ended when YIA in Kulon Progo reached full operation in March 2020 and absorbed nearly all scheduled traffic. In 2024 the old airport lost its international status as well. What remains are a handful of ATR-72 domestic services by Citilink and Wings Air, an Indonesian Air Force base and a flight-training function. With that downgrade, the site no longer serves as an air-cargo point in any meaningful sense. All significant air freight for the Yogyakarta region now passes through Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), about 45 km to the southwest.
