## Description

Four international destinations — Riyadh, Amman, Cairo and Jeddah — make up the working core of Aden International (ADE/OYAA), Yemen's largest airport and the air gateway of the internationally recognised government. Operations track the conflict rather than the timetable: Yemenia suspended flights for three days in early 2026 before resuming, while passenger traffic has recovered moderately, up around 4% year on year. Air cargo moves almost entirely as belly freight on passenger services and through humanitarian relief flights run by UN agencies and NGOs; there is no dedicated freight terminal and no freighter operation. Heavy and high-volume consignments instead reach southern Yemen through the adjacent Port of Aden, a long-standing transshipment point on the Gulf of Aden, and forwarders generally find the sea-plus-truck chain far more dependable. Customs and handling rest with the recognised government's authorities, with particular scrutiny of relief supplies and fuel imports. African Express Airways, Air Djibouti and Royal Jordanian have served Aden at intervals, and the reopening of Riyan near Mukalla (RIY) together with the restarted Mukalla domestic service has rebuilt a modest internal network. Practical alternatives are Seiyun (GXF), Riyan (RIY) and above all Djibouti (JIB), from which much of the humanitarian pipeline into Yemen is staged.
